Directions

MAKING
1)In a bowl, mix the meat, salt, pepper, angostura bitters and lemon juice thoroughly.
2)Make 4 thick patties. As the sauce is prepared, let the patties stand.
3)Place a heavy skillet over hot coals of a grill.
4)In a small bowl, mix tomato sauce with lemon juice, water, minced onion, minced green pepper and minced celery.
5)Brush the basting sauce over the patties .
6)On the grill rack, broil the patties at some distance from the embers for 5 minutes on each side.

SERVING
7)Remove from the grill and serve hot with burger buns.

TIP
If you want the burgers well done, grill for a few more extra minutes.
