Savory Corn Bread Stuffing Recipe
This savory cornbread stuffing is a meaty poultry stuffing mix made with vegetables and mushrooms. Prepared with browned sausage combined with the vegetables and cornbread with poultry seasoning to taste, the corn bread stuffing can be stuffed and roasted with the bird.
Ingredients
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 cup chopped celery
3/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup margarine or butter
4 teaspoons Chicken-Flavor Instant Bouillon or 4 Chicken-Flavor Bouillon Cubes
1 2/3 cups boiling water
1 pound bulk sausage, browned and drained
1 (16-ounce) package corn bread stuffing mix
1 1/2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
Directions
In large skillet, cook mushrooms, celery and onion in margarine until tender.
In large bowl, dissolve bouillon in water.
Add sausage, mushroom mixture and remaining ingredients; mix well.
Loosely stuff turkey just before roasting.
Place remaining stuffing in greased baking dish; bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until hot.
Refrigerate leftovers.
