Sauteed Cabbage and Apples Recipe
Ingredients
| Large tart apples - 2 | ||
| Butter | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cabbage - 8 cups, coarsely shredded | ||
| Instant Onions - 1/4 cup, Chopped | ||
| Season-All - 1 teaspoon | ||
| Nutmeg | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cider vinegar | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Sugar | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Cayenne - Dash | ||
| Pecans and walnuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1 Peel, and core the apples.
2 Chop them.
MAKING
3 In a pan, melt butter (bacon drippings may be used if you prefer); add apples, cabbage, onions, Season-All and nutmeg. Mix well.
4 Cook, covered over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
5 In a bowl, mix vinegar, sugar and cayenne; add to cabbage.
6 Cook for another 5 minutes.
7 Mix in nuts or sprinkle nuts over top.
SERVING
8 Excellent served with pork, duckling, goose and game.
