Sausage Wheel Recipe
Ingredients
14-ounce jar spiced apple rings
8-ounce package Hormel Brown 'n Serve Sausages
1 tablespoon plus 1/2 cup cooking oil
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
Directions
Drain apple rings; reserve liquid.
Brown sausages in 1 tablespoon oil in heavy 9 or 10 inch ovenproof skillet.
Arrange sausages spoke-fashion in greased skillet, placing one apple ring in center.
Combine 1/2 cup oil with remaining ingredients in mixing bowl.
Stir just until moistened.
Drop about half of batter by tablespoonfuls between sausages and over apple ring.
Spread evenly.
Arrange remaining apple rings over batter; spread with remaining batter.
Bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes or until browned.
Invert onto serving plate.
