Sauerbraten Recipe
Finally an interesting and good recipe of Sauerbraten has arrived. Meat Meatloaf is the primary ingredient in Sauerbraten. This is the most comforting Main Dish recipe I have come across. Try your hand at this German recipe of Sauerbraten, which makes you keep asking for more. I am sure both of us will be in agreement that this Sauerbraten is very delectable.
Ingredients
4-lb. chuck roast
2 onions, sliced
2 bay leaves
6 whole cloves
12 peppercorns
12 juniper berries, if desired
2 tsp. salt
1 pt. red wine vinegar
1/2 cup boiling water
Directions
Place roast in an earthenware bowl with onions and seasonings.
Pour over it a mixture of red wine vinegar and boiling water.
Marinate 3 days or more in refrigerator.
Turn meat twice a day with 2 wooden spoons; never pierce with a fork.
To cook: drain meat and brown thoroughly on all sides in hot fat in heavy skillet.
Add marinade; cover pan and simmer slowly 3 to 4 hr., or until tender.
