Saucy Steak With Parsnips Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds round steak ('/2-inch thick), cut in 1-inch squares
2 tablespoons shortening
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed beef broth
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup brandy
2 tablespoons chopped pimiento
1/8 teaspoon marjoram, crushed
1/8 teaspoon thyme, crushed
1 pound parsnips, cut in 1-inch pieces (about 2 cups)
Directions
In skillet, brown round steak in shortening; pour off fat.
Add remaining ingredients except parsnips.
Cover; cook over low heat 1 hour.
Stir.
Add parsnips; cook 30 minutes more or until tender.
Stir now and then.
