Sandtorte Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup (1/2 lb.) soft butter
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 cup (1/2 pt.) sour cream
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions
In the large bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and blend in the sugar.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Blend in sour cream.
Sift the flour, measure, and sift again with the baking powder.
Add the flour mixture in 4 or 5 parts to first mixture, blending well each time.
Add vanilla.
Pour the batter into a well-buttered mold (2 or 2 1/2-quart) or into a buttered 9-inch tube pan.
Bake in a 350° oven for about 1 hour 25 minutes, or until it tests done when you insert a wooden skewer or toothpick.
When the cake is done, remove from the oven, let stand for 5 minutes, then invert on a cooling rack.
