Sand Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Shortening | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Egg | 1 , Well beaten | |
| 1 tsp. grated orange or lemon rind | ||
Directions
Sift flour and baking powder together.
Cream shortening, add sugar gradually.
Add egg and orange rind and then the dry ingredients.
Chill.
Then roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness.
Cut with a long narrow cooky cutter.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Brush with egg white diluted with two tablespoons of water and sprinkle with a mixture of 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 4 tablespoons sugar.
Decorate with blanched almonds, raisins, cherries or small candies.
Bake at 375F 8 to 10 minutes.
