Ingredients

 1 tablespoon lard, butter or bacon drippings
 Onion1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Flour2 Tablespoon
 2 cups canned stewed tomatoes, or 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
 1 cup chopped green chiles, or more
 Garlic1 Clove (5gm), crushed
 Salt3/4 Teaspoon

Directions

1 Melt the lard in a saucepan over medium heat.
2 Saute the chopped onion in the lard. Add the flour and mix well.
3 Add the stewed tomatoes or chicken broth, chopped chiles, garlic and seasonings. Simmer for 20 minutes.
