2 pounds 96% lean ground beef
 
1 cup soft bread crumbs
 
2/3 cup finely chopped onion
 
1/2 cup prepared salsa
 
2 teaspoons chili powder
 
8 multigrain burger buns
 
TOPPINGS
 
1/4 cup nonfat sour cream (optional)
 
1/2 cup prepared salsa (optional)
 
2 tomatoes, thinly sliced (optional)
 
1 onion, thinly sliced (optional)
 
8 lettuce leaves (optional)
 
1 cup nonfat or reduced-fat shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)

Directions

1. Combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, salsa, and chili powder in a large bowl. Use a potato masher or fork to mix the ingredients thoroughly. Gently shape the mixture into 10 (4-inch) patties.
2. Grill the burgers over medium heat for 7 to 9 minutes on each side, or until the meat is thoroughly cooked. (There should be no traces of pink inside.)
