Salmagundi Recipe
Ingredients
| 3/4 pound salt herring | ||
| Oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 1/3 cup vinegar onion | ||
| 30 1 1/2-inch toast rounds, buttered | ||
| Paprika | ||
| Chopped parsley | ||
| Minced | 2 Teaspoon | |
| 8 whole allspice | ||
| 1 teaspoon dried, minced, hot red pepper | ||
Directions
Preparation soak fish in water to cover for 8 hours.
Drain.
Rinse and bone.
Cut in 1/2-inch squares.
Reserve combine vinegar, onion, allspice, and red pepper in saucepan.
Bring to a boil; boil for 1 minute remove from heat.
Add oil pour over fish.
Marinate for 24 hours.
Drain; top each toast round with fish square; garnish with paprika and parsley.
