Sacramento Fruit Bowl Recipe
Honestly I tried this Sacramento Fruit Bowl with the fruits I had at hand. However, I was more than surprised with the resulting Sacramento Fruit Bowl. It was more than simply delicious!
Ingredients
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons anise seeds
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 small pineapple
1 small honeydew melon
1 small cantaloupe
2 oranges
2 large nectarines
2 large purple plums
1/2 pound green grapes
2 kiwifruit
Directions
1. In 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, cook water, sugar, anise seeds, lemon juice, and salt 15 minutes or until mixture becomes a light syrup. Refrigerate until syrup is cool.
2. Meanwhile, remove peel from pineapple, honeydew melon, and cantaloupe. Cut pulp from pineapple and melons into bite-sized chunks. Peel and section oranges. Slice un-peeled nectarines and plums into wedges. Cut grapes in half; remove seeds, if any.
3. In large bowl, combine cut-up fruit. Pour chilled syrup through strainer over fruit. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled, stirring occasionally.
