Rye Fritters Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup sifted all purpose flour
1 cup rye meal
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
2 teaspoons molasses
1 cup milk, approximately
Fat for deep frying

How to make Rye Fritters

1. Sift together into a mixing bowl the flour, rye meal, salt, cinnamon and baking powder.
2. Beat the egg, add the molasses and pour into the flour mixture. Add two-thirds cup milk and mix thoroughly, adding more milk if necessary to make a medium stiff batter.
3. Drop the batter from a spoon slightly larger than a tablespoon into hot fat (360° F.). Fry about two and one-half minutes on each side.
