Ingredients

 
1/2 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
 
1/4 cup sugar
 
1/8 teaspoon salt
 
1/4 cup water
 
1/2 cup each milk and whipping cream or 1 cup light cream
 
2 cups freshly brewed strong, hot coffee
 
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

In the top of a double boiler, melt chocolate over hot water.
Add sugar, salt, and water.
Place over direct heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring.
Add milk and cream and heat, but do not allow to boil.
Add coffee and vanilla.
Beat with a rotary beater until foamy and serve immediately.
