Ingredients

 
1 1/2 cups milk
 
1/2 cup light cream
 
1/3 cup sugar
 
1/8 teaspoon salt
 
3 eggs, lightly beaten
 
3 tablespoons rum

Directions

Place milk, cream, sugar, and salt in 4-cup glass measure.
Cook on 70, 3 to 4 minutes, or just until mixture boils.
Stir 1/2 cup milk mixture slowly into eggs, then add to remaining milk mixture and stir until blended.
Cook on 50, 2 minutes.
Stir.
Cook on 30, 4 to 5 minutes, stirring once every minute, until thickened.
Cool to room temperature.
Stir in rum.
Serve with bread pudding, banana pudding, poached peaches, or poached pears.
