Round Steak Sauerbraten With Wine Vinegar Recipe

I grew up eating this Round Steak Sauerbraten frequently and am happy to share this recipe with you. The goodness of Beef makes Round Steak Sauerbraten a healthy treat. Best enjoyed as a Main Dish this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. You don't have to be an expert to judge how delicious and flavorful this dish is.

Ingredients

 
1 1/2 pounds boneless beef round steak, cut 1/2 inch thick
 
1 tablespoon cooking oil
 
1 1.2-ounce envelope brown gravy mix
 
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
 
2 tablespoons brown sugar
 
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar or cider vinegar
 
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
 
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
 
1 bay leaf
 
Hot cooked noodles

Directions

1 Cut meat into 1-inch pieces. In a large skillet brown meat, half at a time, in hot oil. Remove meat from skillet. Stir gravy mix into skillet; carefully stir in 1/2 cup water. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
2 Stir in onion, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, ginger, bay leaf, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Return meat to skillet. Simmer, covered, for 1 1/4 hours or until meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Discard bay leaf. Serve over hot cooked noodles.
