Ingredients

 
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
6 tablespoons hard lard
 
6 tablespoons hard sweet butter
 
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
 
6 tablespoons ice water

Directions

Sift flour with salt.
Cut lard and butter or margarine into 1-inch cubes.
Cut lightly into flour mixture so that fat is in about 1/4-inch pieces.
Add lemon juice to ice water, and mix in lightly.
Continue to blend in water gradually until all has been added.
Dough should be fairly stiff.
Roll dough into oblong shape.
Fold in 3.
Turn so that folded edges are at right and left.
Roll out away from you, fold and turn again.
Repeat this process 4 times.
Then allow dough to rest at least 1/2 hour and preferably 1 hour in refrigerator.
Then roll it out, and shape to make single top crust for 9-inch pie or in any other suitable shape or size.
