Romertopf Marmalade Recipe
Ingredients
| Oranges - 2 pounds, with peel | ||
| Sugar | 1 1/4 Pound | |
| Water | 1/4 Pint | |
| Lemon juice | ||
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Rinse the fruit and dry it thoroughly. In case the fruit has been treated with chemicals, ensure that it is washed very thoroughly in hot water.
2) Preheat oven to temperature of 400 degrees.
MAKING
3) In water, boil the fruit for about 15 minutes.
4) Peel half of the oranges very thinly and then cut the peel into thin strips.
5) Peel the remainder of the fruit and divide it into sections. Remove the pith and seeds.
6) Cut the fruit into pieces.
7) Mix together with the sugar, water, lemon juice and strips of rind.
8) Into the soaked Romertopf, put the mixture, and cover.
9) Cook in the hot preheated oven for 1 ½ hours.
SERVING
10) Serve or use the marmalade as and when preferred. Makes a good topping for breads and a range of cookies, cakes and desserts.
