Rolled Oat Bread Recipe
Ingredients
Yeast- 2 packages or 2 cakes
Water- 1/2 cup warm (lukewarm for cake yeast)
Quick rolled oats- 1 cup
Water- 1 1/2 cups, boiling
Molasses- 1/2 cup
Salt- 1 1/2 teaspoons
Shortening- 1/3 cup
Eggs- 2, beaten
All purpose flour- 5 1/2 cups
Directions
GETTING READY
1.Start by preheating the oven to 375F degrees
MAKING
2.In a bowl, pour warm water and soften the yeast in it
3.In a large mixing bowl, combine the next 5 ingredeints
4.Now set aside the bowl, let cool to lukewarm
5.Now beat in the yeast, eggs and 2 cups flour until smooth
6.Mix with flour to make a soft dough
7.Cover the dough and refrigerate for 2 hours
8.Remove the dough from the refrigerator, and shape it into 2 loaves
9.In greased 9x5 inch loaf pans, place the dough
10.Let rise in a warm place until doubled
11.Finally bake in the oven for 40 minutes
