Rock Cornish Hens With Orange Rice Recipe
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), melted|
|Bottled browning sauce||2 Teaspoon|
|Rock cornish hens||2 , split|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Onion||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), minced|
|Sliced mushrooms||6 Ounce (Drained And Liquid Reserved)|
|Water chestnuts||5 Ounce (Drained And Liquid Reserved)|
|White wine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Cornstarch||3 Tablespoon (Mixed In Water)|
|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Celery||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped|
|Mandarin oranges||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Drained)|
|Cooked rice||2 Cup (32 tbs)|

1)In a bowl, Mix shortening and browning sauce.
2)Brush hens with shortening mixture.
3)Take a broiling pan and place the hens on it. Broil for 10 minutes on each side.
4)In a saucepan, melt butter and add onion. Sauté for 3 minutes.
5)Mix wine and enough water to reserved liquid to make 2 cups fluid.
6)Put the mixture into saucepan and bring to a boil.
7)Add bouillon cube and then cornstarch.
8)Cook until sauce is transparent.
9)Fold in water chestnuts and mushrooms.
10)In a large skillet, put the hens and pour the sauce.
11)Let it simmer for 30 minutes or until cooked through.
12)In a saucepan, melt margarine and cook celery until tender.
13)Add oranges and rice.
14)Serve rock Cornish hens with oranges and rice hot.
