Roast Beef Sandwiches Recipe
Ingredients
1/4 cup reduced-calorie Italian salad dressing
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon beef-flavored bouillon granules
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 medium-size green pepper, seeded and sliced
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
6 (1/2-inch-thick) slices Italian bread, toasted
3/4 pound cooked roast beef (cooked without salt), thinly sliced
2 medium tomatoes, each cut into 6 slices
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Combine first 3 ingredients in a large skillet; bring to a boil.
Add onion and green pepper.
Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until onion is tender, stirring occasionally.
Combine cornstarch, 1/2 cup water, and Worcestershire sauce; add to onion mixture.
Bring to a boil, and cook 1 minute, stirring frequently.
Reduce heat, and cook until slightly thickened.
Place bread slices on an oven-proof serving platter; top each with equal amounts of meat.
Spoon onion mixture over meat; place 2 tomato slices on each sandwich, and sprinkle 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese over tomatoes.
Broil 6 inches from heating element until cheese is golden brown.
Serve warm.
