Roast Whole Turkey Recipe
Roast Whole Turkey is my families favorite turkey preparation. I have been making this filling and delicious dish for a few years now. This Roast Whole Turkey recipe is simply fantastic.
Ingredients
12 pound turkey
Salt
Poultry seasoning
Browning sauce
Directions
Season inside of turkey with salt and poultry seasoning.
Tuck wing tips beneath body and tie wings and legs together with cotton string.
Arrange turkey breast-side down on microwave roasting rack set in 12x8-inch dish.
Brush with browning sauce.
TO COOK BY TEMPERATURE: Cook at MEDIUM 4 minutes per pound.
Turn turkey breast-side up.
Insert probe parallel to the leg, into the thickest portion of the thigh.
The probe should be between the inner thigh and body of the bird and should not touch bones.
Set Insta-Matic TEMP 7 or Programmable Temp at MEDIUM, MOT and at MEDIUM-LOW, 190°F.
Drain liquid occasionally.
TO COOK BY TIME: Cook, covered with wax paper at MEDIUM for 48 minutes, draining liquid once.
Turn turkey breast-side up; brush with browning sauce.
Cook, covered with wax paper, at MEDIUM-LOW for 1 1/4 hours or until turkey registers 190°F when tested with conventional meat thermometer inserted in thigh joint as described below.
(Remove roast from oven before reading temperature.)
