Ingredients

 
1 4-to-6-lb (2 to 3 kg) roast of your choice
 
1/2 tsp (2 raL) ground pepper
 
1/2 tsp (2 mL) paprika
 
1 tsp (5 mL) dry mustard
 
1 garlic clove, chopped fine
 
1 bay leaf, broken up into small pieces
 
1 tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil

Directions

€¢ Mix together the pepper, paprika, mustard, garlic, bay leaf and vegetable oil. Spread over the meat.
€¢ If you have a combination microwave-convection oven, put a ceramic or Pyrex plate under the rack and place the meat on the rack.
€¢ Insert the temperature probe in the meat and plug it in.
€¢ Select the cooking setting for the way you want your roast cooked rare, medium or well done.
€¢ The temperature probe will turn off automatically when the selected temperature is reached.
€¢ Remove the roast from the oven, remove the temperature probe and make gravy with the juice accumulated in the bottom of the plate.

Since my microwave was purchased at a time (2009) that there were NO microwaves available with probes - just how old is this recipe? What about cooking times for people WITH NO PROBES?
