Ingredients
1 cup all purpose flour
4 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 1/4 tablespoons sugar
1 egg yolk
Cold water to mix
Directions
Sift flour into a mixing bowl.
Rub fat into flour with the fingertips until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Stir in sugar.
Add egg yolk and mix together with a fork.
Add sufficient cold water to mix to a stiff dough which leaves sides of the bowl cleanly.
Knead gently until smooth, wrap in greaseproof paper or clear plastic and chill in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before use.
Roll out pastry and use as required.
This sufficient to line 8 inch flan ring, or cover a 5 cup pie plate.
