Place onions and butter in a bowl and let it solar cook. Season it with salt and pepper. Cover and cook for 30 minutes to lightly fry. Then add rice and chicken broth. Let it cook for sometime, then add thyme. The rice is cooked in about 1 ½ hours. The pilaf can be served with any curry.
