Ribbon Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1 package pound cake mix
Milk
Eggs
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup vanilla frosting (from a 1 pound, 5 ounce can)
Red, green and yellow food colorings
Directions
Line three baking pans, 9x9x2, with wax paper; grease paper.
Prepare pound cake mix with milk and eggs, following label directions; divide evenly into prepared pans.
Bake in slow oven (325°) for 20 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in tops comes out clean.
Cool in pans on a wire rack for 5 minutes; remove from pans; peel off wax paper.
Cool completely.
Stir almond extract into frosting in a bowl; divide in thirds.
Tint one pink, one green and one yellow with food colorings.
Spread each on a cake layer; stack layers.
Chill.
Cut into eighths crosswise, then fifths lengthwise.
Trim with frosting rosettes, if you wish.
