Rhubarb Pie Recipe
I was trying this rhubarb pie for the first time and believe me it turned out real well. My entire family was all praise for this delicious pie. You too can bring a smile to the faces of your loved ones with this easy to make dish.
|Pastry sheet||9 Inch (readymade)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Orange juice||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , separated|
|Chopped nuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Butter||1 1⁄2 Tablespoon|
|Fresh rhubarb/Frozen rhubarb||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
Place the pastry in a 9 inch pie dish. Take a bowl and mix together the flour, sugar, salt, orange juice, butter and the egg yolks. Beat well till all ingredients are well-blended. Mix in the rhubarb. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites till they form peaks. Fold this in slowly in the rhubarb mixture. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie dish. Layer with the nuts. Cover with the second pastry. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. Now reduce the temperature to 300 degrees and continue baking for another 35-40 minutes or till the pie crust turns golden brown. Cool, slice and enjoy.
