Authentic Reuben Sandwiches Recipe
Ingredients
| Mayonnaise | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Green pepper | 1 Tablespoon, finely chopped | |
| Chili Sauce | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Rye bread slice | 8 | |
| 4 slices Swiss cheese, halved crosswise | ||
| Corned beef | 8 Ounce, sliced | |
| Sauerkraut | 8 Ounce, refrigerated | |
| Butter/Margarine | 2 Tablespoon | |
Directions
1. In small bowl, combine mayonnaise, green pepper, and chili sauce. Spread about 1 tablespoon mayonnaise mixture on each bread slice. Top each of 4 bread slices with 1 slice Swiss cheese, one-fourth of corned beef, one-fourth of sauerkraut, and another cheese slice. Cover with remaining bread slices, mayonnaise side down.
2. In 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sandwiches and cook until browned, about 4 minutes. Turn and cook, adding more butter as necessary, until bread has browned and cheese melts, about 4 minutes. Cut each sandwich crosswise in half.
