Ingredients

 
3/4 cup (180 ml) butter
 
1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
 
1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
 
2 eggs
 
1/4 cup (60 ml) com syrup
 
1 tbsp (15 ml) vanilla extract
 
2 cups (500 ml) pastry flour
 
1/2 tsp (2 ml) baking soda
 
1/2 tsp (2 ml) baking powder
 
1/2 cup (125 ml) candied fruit
 
1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped nuts

Directions

–  Preheat oven to 375 °F (190 °C).
–  Cream butter. Add sugar, brown sugar, eggs, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir until foamy, and set aside.
–  In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients and add them to the first mixture.
–  Divide cookie dough in half. Add candied fruit to the first half, and chopped nuts to the second.
–  Shape into 2-inch (5-cm) thick rolls. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
–  When needed, slice the rolls, put the cookie rounds on a buttered cookie sheet, and bake 8 to 10 minutes.
