Red Cherry Sauce recipe is very precious to me because it was passed on to me by my mom. It is an ideal Side Dish. I am certain both of us will be in agreement that this Red Cherry Sauce is really delicious.

Ingredients
1 can pitted dark cherries
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. lemon rind
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. port
2 tbsp. Butter
Directions
Drain cherries; reserve juice.
Combine sugar, cornstarch and reserved juice in saucepan; simmer, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened.
Add cherries, lemon rind, lemon juice, port and butter; heat through.
Serve warm over ice cream.
