Red Caviar Dip (Taramosakta) Recipe
The red caviar dip is an exotic dip prepared with red caviar and flavored with olive oil, and lemon juice. Combined with minced onions and wheat bread, the red caviar dip is best served chilled with crackers or greek bread. A flavorful dip, I whip these up often for dinner parties and get togethers.
Ingredients
1 jar (4 ounces) tarama (fish roe)
10 slices firm type whole wheat bread, crusts removed
Water
1 medium onion, minced
2 cups olive oil
Juice of 2 or 3 lemons
Directions
Beat tarama in a mixer for 5 minutes at medium speed.
Sprinkle bread lightly with water and squeeze very dry.
Add bread, slice by slice, to tarama, beating after each addition.
Add onion and beat.
Slowly pour in olive oil, alternating with lemon juice to taste.
Beat until fluffy.
Refrigerate.
Serve with crackers or small pieces of crusty Greek bread.
