Red Beans And Rice Recipe
Ingredients
| Red beans | 1 pound, dried | |
| 1 ham bone (with some meat) | ||
| Water | 5 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Bay Leaf | 1 | |
| Onions | 3 Medium | |
| Green pepper | 1 | |
| Fat | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Tomato soup | 1 Can (10oz), condensed | |
| Garlic salt | 1 To taste | |
| Chili powder | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
Directions
Soak beans overnight well covered with water; drain.
Bring beans, ham bone, 5 cups water, bay leaf, and 1 onion to boil; simmer until beans are tender, about 2 1/2 hours.
Remove ham bone and bay leaf.
Dice ham on bone; reserve.
Chill beans;remove fat from top.
Chop remaining 2 onions and green pepper; cook until lightly browned in skillet with the fat; add to beans (and their liquid) with diced ham, soup, garlic salt, chili powder and salt (if needed) to taste.
Reheat slowly over hot water.
