Red Cabbage Supreme Recipe
Ingredients
| Cabbage | 1 Pound, pounded | |
| 2 tablespoons bacon drippings or butter | ||
| Onion | 1 Large, sliced | |
| 2 tart apples, peeled and sliced | ||
| Vinegar | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 3 tablespoons dry white table wine | ||
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Wash cabbage and discard the outer leaves.
Slice the whole head into thin shreds.
In a large pan, heat the bacon drippings or butter.
Add the cabbage, onion, apples, vinegar, water, and 2 tablespoons of the wine.
Cover and cook over low heat until tender but still slightly crisp, about 30 minutes.
Just before you remove the vegetable from the heat, add the sugar, salt, and the remaining 1 tablespoon wine.
