Red Cabbage and Red Onions Recipe

Ingredients

 1 head red cabbage (1 1/2 lb/750 g), finely shredded
 Red wine vinegar1/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 2 tbsp sweet butter
 Red onions2 , thinly sliced
 Apples2 , thinly sliced
 Chicken stock1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Brown sugar2 Tablespoon
 Caraway seed2 Teaspoon
 Ground black pepper1/2 Teaspoon

Directions

1. In a large bowl, combine cabbage, vinegar and salt. Let stand 5 minutes.
2. Heat butter in a large skillet. Add cabbage, turning 2 to 3 times. Stir in onions, apples, stock, sugar, caraway and pepper.
3. Cook, covered, over low heat for 1 hour, until cabbage is tender. Serve warm.
