Ingredients

 Heart of red cabbage - 1 lb, shredded
 Onion1 , finely chopped
 Apple - 1 coarsely chopped
 1 oz dripping or butter
 1/8 pt stock or water
 Brown sugar1 Tablespoon
 White vinegar1 Tablespoon
 Black pepper1/2 Teaspoon
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Pinch of powdered mace

Directions

MAKING
1. In a saucepan melt dripping.
2. Stir in all the other ingredients.
3. Cover with a lid and cook.
4. Shake frequently until cabbage is tender but still crisp and the pan is dry.

SERVING
5. Serve hot.
