Ingredients

 
1/2 cup currants
 
1 1/2 cup raisins
 
1/2 cup figs
 
1/2 cup dates
 
1/4 cup each citron and orange pee
 
2 cups ground suet (about 3/4 lb.)
 
1/4 loaf day old bread, plucked fine by hand
 
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
 
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
 
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
 
1/4 teaspoon cloves
 
1 cup scalded milk
 
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
 
4 eggs
 
2 tablespoons red wine
 
2 tablespoons brandy

Directions

Cut up fruits; add crumbled bread, salt, spices, scalded milk and sugar.
Beat eggs until light and add fruits, suet, wine, brandy, etc.
Steam in pudding dishes, water 2/3 up on puddings for 5 hours.
Reheat in same manner 1 hour only Christmas day.
