Ranch Stew Recipe
Ingredients
| Lean beef - 1 pound, trimmed and cut into bite- sized pieces | ||
| Water | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Carrots | 2 Large, sliced | |
| Potatoes | 2 Medium, pared | |
| Pearl onions | 12 Small, canned | |
| Frozen peas | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Whole-wheat flour (optional) - 2 tablespoons | ||
| Worcestershire sauce | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Preheat oven to 325° F.
MAKING
2) Take a 1 quart baking dish and place meat in it.
3) Brown the meat in the oven for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4) Add about 1 cup water to the dish.
5) Cover and bake for another 1 hour or until meat becomes tender.
6) In the meanwhile, take a large saucepan and cook carrots in it with 2 cups of water.
7) When carrots become partially cooked, and potatoes and cook until vegetables become tender.
8) Add peas and onions.
9) Put vegetables into the beef dish.
10) Thicken the liquid from vegetables using flour, if desired.
11) Add salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce to the liquid.
12) Pour mixture over vegetables and meat.
13) Cover and cook in the oven again for about 20 minutes or longer.
SERVING
14) Spoon out stew in individual bowls and serve immediately.
