Raisin Spice Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
| Seedless raisins | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Flour | 1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| 1 teaspoon Calumet Baking Powder | ||
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1/2 cup butter or other shortening | ||
| Firmly packed brown sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| 1 1/2 cups Grape-Nuts Flakes Or use 1 1/2 cups Post Toasties or Post 40% Bran Flakes. | ||
Directions
Add raisins to water.
Bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes; drain well.
Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sift again.
Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy.
Add egg, beating thoroughly.
Add flour, a small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add raisins and cereal.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto un-greased baking sheet.
Bake in a hot oven (400°F.) from 8 to 10 minutes, or until done.
