Baking soda- 2 teaspoons
Cloves- 1/2 teaspoon

Sour milk or buttermilk- 1 cup
Nuts- 1 cup, chopped
Raisins- 1 cup, chopped

1.Start by preheating the oven to 350F degrees

2.In a bowl, sift flour, salt, soda and spices together.
3.Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
4.Add eggs.
5.Add sifted ingredients alternately with sour milk in small amounts.
6.Add nuts and raisins and mix thoroughly.
7.Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet
8.Last, bake in moderate oven for 12 minutes or until brown.
