Raisin-Black Walnut Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| Raisins | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 2 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Black walnuts | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Eggs | 3 | |
| Sugar | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Shortening | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Flour | 4 Cup (16 tbs), sifted |
Directions
Mix raisins, 2 1/2 cups hot water and soda; let stand overnight.
Beat eggs slightly; add sugar and short- ening.
Mix well.
Drain raisins; reserve liquid.
Sift flour and salt; add to egg mixture alternately with reserved raisin liquid.
Add raisins, walnuts and va- nilla.
Place in 5 greased 1-pound coffee cans.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
