Quick Bismarcks Recipe
Ingredients
| All-purpose flour- 5 cups | ||
| Baking powder | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Eggs | 2 Small | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 3 Tablespoon, melted | |
| Lemon rind Jelly or jam- 2 teaspoons, grated | ||
| Fat- for deep frying | ||
| Sugar- as required | ||
Directions
MAKING
1.In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt, mix thoroughly
2.Now beat the whole eggs and egg yolk together, keep beating in the sugar thoroughly
3.Also beat in the milk, shortening and grated rind
4.Now bled in the dry ingredients in the wet ingredients
5.Cover the bowl, and refrigerate for several hours
6.On floured canvas, roll out the dough 1/4 inch thick
7.Using a 2 inch round cookie cutter, cut the dough
8.Now spoon over 1/2 teaspoon jelly on center of half of the rounds
9.Beat the white egg and brush over surface of remaining rounds
10.Place face side down on the jellied rounds
11.Now press together firmly to seal
12.Finally place in a pan and deep fry in deep hot fat for 2 minutes on each side until they get golden brown
13.On absorbent paper, drain the donut and let it cool slightly
14.Coat with sugar
