Quick Sauteed Apples Recipe
I have a recipe which is very near and dear to my heart and that is of Quick Sauteed Apples. Best enjoyed as a Dessert this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. The marriage of the incredible flavors of Apple with other ingredients is the secret to this Quick Sauteed Apples recipe. Ingredients
Apples
4 large Golden Delicious apples or baking apples in season
Juice of 1/2 lemon
6 tablespoons butter
Freshly grated nutmeg
Hard Sauce
5 tablespoons butter (softened)
1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons Calvados (apple brandy)
Directions
Wash and peel apples, cut in quarters, and core.
Cut each quarter in thirds into a bowl with lemon juice.
Toss around to keep apples from discoloring.
Melt butter in 10-inch saute pan on high.
When butter is foaming, add apple wedges so they all lie flat in bottom of pan.
Place lid on pan.
When apples steam, turn heat to low.
Cook for about 10 minutes, turning apples halfway through the cooking time.
Test apples for fork tender (not mushy).
While apples are cooking, make hard sauce.
Cream butter until softened, add sugar, and beat until fluffy, adding Calvados a little at a time.
For quick chill, place in freezer.
