Quick Fruit Dumplings Recipe

Ingredients
4 oz. self raising flour
1/2 oz. sugar
4 tablespoons milk
Pinch salt
2 oz. finely chopped suet
Large can peach slices or halves or apricots or plums or rhubarb
Directions
Sift flour and salt into a bowl and add suet and sugar.
Mix to a fairly stiff consistency with the milk, then, with floured hands, shape into 8 dumplings.
Drain fruit and pour syrup into a large, shallow pan.
Bring to boil then put in dumplings.
Reduce heat, cover pan and poach slowly for 10-15 minutes.
Transfer dumplings to a warm serving dish, coat with syrup and decorate with warmed canned fruit.
If you do not wish to open a can of fruit try poaching the dumplings in a mixture of water and lemon juice sweetened to taste.
Dust them with sugar before serving.
