Milk- 2 cups, scalded
Eggs- 2, separated
Sugar- 1/2 cup
Salt- 1/4 teaspoon
Currant jelly or jam- as required

2.Soak crumbs in milk.
3.Beat egg yolks; add 1/4 cup of the sugar and salt and add to milk mixture.

5.Spread a thick layer of jelly over top.
6.Beat egg whites with remaining 1/4 cup sugar until stiff.
7.Spread meringue over top of pudding.
8.Bake 10 minutes longer or until browned.
