Puny's Brandied Fruit Compote Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped dried apricots | ||
| Pears | 1 Cup (16 tbs), coarsely chopped | |
| Prunes | 1 Cup (16 tbs), coarsely chopped | |
| Dried cranberries | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 2 cups coarsely chopped dried apples | ||
| Cherries | 1 Cup (16 tbs), dried | |
| Brown sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Brandy | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Unsalted butter | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Lemon juice | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Lemon zest | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Orange zest | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Water | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Combine the dried fruit in a large bowl and add enough hot water to cover by 1 inch.
Let the fruit soak for 25 minutes, then dram well.
Place the soaked fruit, brown sugar, brandy, butter, salt, lemon juice, lemon zest, orange zest, and water in a large saucepan over high heat.
Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes.
Pour the compote into a bowl, cool, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Or you may also serve the compote warm.
