Prune-Apple Chutney Recipe

Ingredients
2 pounds dried prunes
3 cups peeled, chopped onions
2 cups peeled, chopped, tart apples
3 cups blended vinegar
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup seeded raisins
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon mustard seed
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Directions
Soak prunes overnight in water to cover.
Drain, remove pits and cut prunes into coarse pieces.
Turn all ingredients into preserving kettle, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, at least 2 hours.
Stir from time to time, especially when mixture starts to thicken.
Ladle into hot sterilized jars, and seal.
Makes 3â€â€4 pints.
