Ingredients

 
1 cup prunes
 
1 1/4 cups water
 
1/4 cup honey stick of cinnamon
 
1 slice lemon, 1/2 inch thick, with rind
 
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a medium-size saucepan.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes.
Strain mixture, reserving juice.
Remove pits from prunes.
Discard pits, cinnamon stick, and lemon slice.
Puree prunes.
If mixture seems too thick, add a bit of the reserved prune juice.
