Prune Bread Recipe
This Prune Bread received such rave reviews from all. This is the best recipe of Fruits I have ever made. Best enjoyed as a Side Dish this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. I am certain you and I will approve that this Prune Bread is just delectable.
Ingredients
2 cups boiling water
2 cups dried prunes, pitted and coarsely chopped
2 teaspoons soda
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 1/4, cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups regular all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Pour boiling water over chopped, uncooked prunes; add soda, and allow to stand.
In another bowl, cream butter, sugar, and egg thoroughly; stir in vanilla.
Sift flour, measure, and sift again with baking powder and salt.
Add to butter mixture alternately with water from prunes.
Stir in prunes and nuts.
Spoon into two 9 by 5-inch greased loaf pans.
Bake in a 300° oven for 1 hour, or until the bread is golden brown.
