Prune Bars Recipe

Prune Bars is simple to make and taste very scrumptious. The assortment of flour, baking soda, salt, oats, brown sugar, butter, nuts, prunes, sweetened condensed milk and ginger give it a heavenly taste.

 All purpose flour1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted
 Baking soda1 Teaspoon
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 2 cups quick rolled oats
 Firmly packed light brown sugar1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Nuts1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Butter/Margarine3/4 Cup (16 tbs), melted
 2 cups cooked, pitted prunes
 Sweetened condensed milk2/3 Cup (16 tbs)
 Ginger1/2 Teaspoon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F.
In medium size bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, oats, brown sugar and nuts; blend well.
Add butter; mix well.
Press about 2 1/2 cups of crumb mixture onto the bottom of a buttered 9 inch square pan.
In medium size bowl, combine prunes, sweetened condensed milk and ginger.
Beat on medium speed of electric mixer or with rotary beater until well blended.
Spread filling over crumb mixture.
Sprinkle remaining crumbs over top; press firmly.
Bake in a moderate (350°F.) oven, about 30 minutes or until top is light brown.
Cool in pan.
Cut into bars.
