In a heavy 2-1/2- or 3-quart saucepan, melt butter or margarine over low heat.
Add sugar and evaporated milk.
Stirring constantly, bring to a rolling boil over medium-low heat
Cook, stirring constantly, about 4 minutes or until mixture reaches 226°F (108°C) on a candy thermometer.
Remove from heat.
Add chocolate pieces.
Beat with a spoon until melted.
Stir in marshmallow creme, nuts and vanilla.
Pour into prepared pan.
Cut into squares.
